Hario V60

The Hario V60 is a popular pour-over coffee dripper that was introduced by Hario in 2005. It has gained a devoted following among coffee enthusiasts for its ability to produce a clean, nuanced, and flavorful cup of coffee.

The dripper's ridges along the inside walls promote even extraction of the coffee grounds, resulting in a balanced and nuanced cup of coffee. The large opening at the bottom of the dripper allows for greater control over the flow rate of the water, making it easier to adjust the brewing process to suit different types of coffee. Overall, the Hario V60 is an elegant and versatile brewing tool that has become a beloved staple in the world of specialty coffee.

20g of whole beans or chaffless beans

Hot water: 92 to 94 °C (about 200 °F)

1st step: Prepare and rinse the filter
Fold the filter into a cone shape and place it in the Hario V60 dripper. Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any paper taste and to preheat your brewing vessel. Dispose of the rinse water.

2nd step: Measure and grind the coffee
Weigh out 20 grams of coffee and grind it to a consistency similar to kosher salt. Transfer the ground coffee to the Hario V60 brewer.

3rd step: Bloom the coffee grounds
Pour just enough hot water over the coffee to saturate them completely. Allow the coffee to bloom for 25-40 seconds. During the bloom, you should see the coffee bed rise and bubble slightly.

4th step: Continuous pouring technique
Begin pouring water in a slow, steady spiral, ensuring even saturation of the grounds. Add water every 10-15 seconds to maintain consistent extraction. Avoid pouring directly on the outer edge of the coffee bed. If you're using a scale, continue pouring until you reach approximately 340-350g of water.

5th step: Complete the brewing process
By the 2:15-2:45 mark, you should be finished. Remove the Hario V60 brewer and enjoy!
